RESEARCH: POLISH FILM POSTERS
These polish posters are possibly some of the most interesting, original and bizarre renditions that I have come across in my research.
'
'Apocolypse Now'
(Above) This poster is for Francis Ford Coppola's 'Apocolypse Now' one of the most famous movies made about the Vietnam War. The poster is a painting of the stories main Antagonist 'Colonel Walter E. Kurtz' playing in Hauntingly realistic fashion by the great Marlon Brando. The red colour and tiny cuts efficiently represent the madness and volatile nature of the Character of Hurtz. The U.S version of this poster is a collage of illustrated images from the movie, Hurtz's head was also include on that version.
'Rosemary's Baby'
I have actually yet to watch 'Rosemary's baby but this illustrated poster is very effective in representing the theme of the film. The U.S version is just a Erie photo of a pram in a mist.
'The Empire Strikes Back'
This is an awesome Star Wars poster in the stencil style of Banksy. The little coloured squares and circles on the poster give it a look indicative of the decade in which it was made. They almost look like little buttons from one of the spaceships.
'Gandhi'
A clever poster for the Ben Kingsley classic 'Gandhi'. I'm starting to see a pattern here. It would seem that the majority of these posters are hand painted with the minority digitally rendered.
'Being There'
I was very happy to find this poster because it is for a slightly more obscure favourite of mine. A poignant comedy about a man that has never left the safety of his house and has learned everything about like from television. When the man he serves as a garder to dies, he becomes homeless and for the first time must leave the house and venture into the outside world. The main actor Peter Sellers died shortly after the release of this film.
'War Games'
'Alien'
'After Hours'
'Enter The Dragon'
'Willow'
'The Never-ending Story'.
'Christine'
'Eyes Wide Shut'
'Short Circuit 2'
'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' ) Same designer as the 'Empire Strikes Back' poster.
'Crocodile Dundee II'
This one deserves a mention to to the clever design. The main character Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee (played by Paul Hogan) returns to New York City for this sequel. Note the large NY buildings replacing the crocodiles teeth.
'Mash'
'Harry and The Henderson's'
'The Fly'
'Raging Bull'
'Return of The Pink Panther'
