RESEARCH: FILM POSTERS: THE 2000's
The film posters of the 2000's brought with them photorealism, quotes and tag-lines. Visually photography and photoshop realistic imagery dominated, with hand rendered design having to be far more clever to break through this mass of digitally inclined designs. The films details became far more detailed in the 90's and the 2000's with all production information and related studios and companies added to the usual film information. Also, along with the teaser trailer the teaser poster was born. This new poster was something that gave a reference to the movie but no information other than artwork and usually a vague date of release. The tagline was also something that was exploited more during this decade of posters.
Some of the posters in this post have a far more artistic and perhaps more original quality than the restrictive one dimensional formats of some of the previous decades. 'Jesus Son, 'Hard Candy' and 'Sexy Beast' come to mind.
