RESEARCH: FILM POSTERS: THE 1980's
As you would expect the film posters of the 1980's became more detailed, graphic and polished looking. Much of the artwork was being done by airbrush to achieve that realistic look while photography was also playing a bigger part in the imagery found on the many posters. In most cases text started to take a backseat to the layout of the design and the imagery did most of the talking.
Due to the advancements in computer graphic and the increasing use of the airbrush posters had a much more clean to to them. Artists could develop a high grade piece of art and then add some additional graphic touches, giving the designs a more futurist look that had not been seen in recent decades. the collage and montage look was still around but more unique and interesting formats were starting to arise.
