RESEARCH: FILM POSTERS: GENRE: HORROR

Very similar to the Sci-fi posters on my last post horror posters must be bold, visually impressive but offer an air of mystery to the viewer  They must also do what the horro film are made for, to scare people. The horror poster must certainly be intimidating If not all out scary.

Because horror movies have neen going for almost 100 years I was able to pick out some interesting examples from the past, as well as some more recent designs. It's interesting to look back and see what people found scary in the 1950's, because the same poster would now probably qualify as spoof horror or even comedy. A genre can change a lot in that amount of time.

These two posters above are from different decades but both use the same premise. I wonder how much inspiration was taken from 'Halloween' for the design of 'Scream 4'

There doesn't seem to be any pattern with text but the colour red certain seems prevalent in a lot of these posters.
