The purpose of the Sci-fi poster is to be intriguing and visually impressive. Like any poster It mush really pull in the viewer but must also offer a hint of mystery. I picked out a few of my favourites as well as a few from various decades.
I have noticed that setting is very popular in the sci-fi poster, with the majority of settings being in the form of a futuristic city with numerous high rise buildings.
You can also notice the transition from painted poster design in to the heavily photo heavy and digital alternatives from the 90's onwards.
The text size and type varies according to the nature of the poster and individual film. Big bold block text, gradients and 3D text seems to be popular.
